Christmas is already here, cripes!

Remember kids, Christmas is fast approaching. If you have your eye on a lovely recycled sweater let me know and I will make sure it arrives in time for you to wear it over the holidays. Eight new lovelies will be in the store soon. Also I will post some new ponchos shortly after. I happened to be dragged through a mall recently, on October 20 to be exact, and the Christmas displays were up already! How irritating... not yet please!
My mind is still on the creepy black majesty of Halloween, dark and brooding. Here in Vancouver we have a great street party called the "Carnival Of Lost Souls" where everyone dresses up and takes over a large park and nearby Commercial Drive. The displays are static and the crowd wanders through decorated back alleys, past haunted houses and candle lit shrines. People go nuts with their costumes of course. The freaks are out in full force as you can imagine, but the good kind of freaks, the kind we love. The kind we are.
Old hippies, handsome punk and goth kids, art school lunatics, the kink crowd, street people and my fave; crazy old Chinese ladies dressed up as crazy old Chinese ladies collecting pop cans! It is a grown up version of folks playing hide and go seek in the darkness. I have seen some crazy stuff going on too, just in the dark corner over there... did you see that? I was intrigued one year by a fellow in a suit with a cape and a black mask standing alone in the shadows of some trees. He had a wonderful aura and was gone in an instant into the night. Sweet.
I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween holiday and save some candy for me. Come on, the good stuff...

October Forest

Here we are on a winding path through the trees bundled up in our cozy sweaters and wooly scarves. The air is soft and heavy with mist and
we can just wander as we please. Shall we cuddle on this bench? This shot was taken at a bird sanctuary which is a protected wetland area 1/2 hour south of Vancouver. Is is too sad that it is operated by Ducks Unlimited, a hunting operation? Anywhoo, the gorgeous snow geese were all gathered together in a nearby field resting up before their journey south. Boy are they loud bitchy things too, what a racket they made. They sounded like a gang of shrieking hormone crazed school girls X 1,000. Gotta love that... gotta love October.

Brrrrrrr! Summer is over!

Yes, people we can no longer deny it, sweater season has arrived! And boy did we get ripped off here in Vancouver... no summer here at all. O.K. maybe 4 days of hot weather but all in all it was a very cool, rainy summer.
On the other hand now you have a good reason to break out the wool, and how about a lovely sustainable mod to modern sweater? Throw on some black tights, a short skirt and a light jacket and you are ready to pick out your pumpkin!
And don't you just love Halloween? I really do. It allows us to ponder the darkness and the things that live under our beds.

Boo! I have seen a ghost and he was as real and as solid as you or I. I have also been spoken to by a woman when I was in danger. There was a fire in a house I was in, and she said very clearly, "there is a fire, get out!"

We all have angels if you just allow yourself to listen and look for them. Some are in human form. Like the person who smiles at you for no reason when you are having a crappy day. Or the person who stops traffic for you so you can cross the street safely. They are acting in pure love.
Now, how about spreading some love around too?
