Vegas Elvis and a rant!

Elvis is in the hood! Two things are strange about this picture. Firstly this old house which is located in the centre of Vancouver, is an urban dairy! Secondly "Vegas Elvis" in the black and gold jump suit, is entertaining the crowd at the Avalon Dairy's 101'st anniversary party. Rockin' good times were had by all and free ice cream too! Lovin' the backyard Elvis every time!

Now I may have not been truthful when I say a good time was had by all. Me, unhappy and here is why. There was a petting zoo where baby animals were being manhandled by badly reared city kids who go ape-shit when they see a scrap of life other than a purse-dog. Now I am miserable! It just pisses me off that parents and the animal owners do not control the kiddies swarming the trapped baby animals. OK, just cool your jets Michelle, you flippin' hot head! But NO! No I say! I have got nothing against kids petting and learning about farm animals, hey groovy, lets all pet them! But cant we give them some room and a quiet place to retreat to if things get overwhelming?

The sun was hot, no water, too many people crammed into a tiny pen and the terrified animals were being stepped on by bratty kids. I swear I almost dropped-kicked two psycho children who were playing tug of war with a baby goat while their parents took pictures with their cell phones. I had a few choice words with a woman in overalls who seemed to be in charge. It went like this... "why doncha limit the number of kids you let in the pen and give the animals some damn shade and water huh? cancha see the baby animals are being trampled?" Blank stare in return. Damn!
