This is my Helloween picture of my husband in his Sunday best as the"Mokinator" holding his weapon of choice, Boy-Boy. This cat weighs a ton, can really pack a punch and can get pretty ugly around mealtimes. Black seems to be the color of choice around here but that is not a complaint. Black can be a wonderful and elegant design element and every room should have a few black details, feline, canine or otherwise. Tomorrow, Halloween is the day full of fun and danger. I hate the teenage boys and their fireworks, too hard on the animals and the innocent. I love fire but not the bad kind. I like the pretty pink kind held by a kindly daddy who has a helpful bucket of sand nearby if we get scared. But soon Halloween will be over. Next... the festival of light. AArrrghhh, I saw my first Christmas commercial last week! Ahhhh, pretty lights and fluffy bits and lots of shiny things.

I love this sweater! It is too pretty, like a beautiful, creamy, candy cake. Sometimes I want to keep them all!
I am trying to save a tree from the developers. It is a tall, evergreen, mature tree with twin trunks growing out of a single stem. The development next door to my apartment means the loss of this and a other trees on the site not to mention the beautiful heritage home that will be bulldozed to make way for townhouses. I have been to city hall to learn about tree retention , and here in Vancouver they do take tree keeping seriously. Thankfully! A retention order has been placed on the tree but it is still in danger during demolition, the laying of water pipes, and perhaps from temperamental construction workers who think these things just get in the way of their machinery. It is a good fight though because the geenery just improves the value of the neighborhood for everyone!I will keep at it.
The drab weather is upon us after an amazing stretch of warm, mellow, fall weather. What better way to cheer ourselves up than with a fuzzy, cozy sweater. Mmmm.

Eight new sweaters have been added to the store! As well, four woolie lovelies will be put up at Cut & Paste very soon. Did you all see the beautiful harvest moon? I had a moon viewing party on my balcony. When it first came up it was so large and orange, like a huge bright rubber ball hanging in the sky. On my balcony I set out a table with candles and we had green tea, apple pear, chokie cake and moon cakes of course! With three black cats for company...
I tried to compose a poem that started: Three black cats and the moon... but things quickly deteriorated from there. I also wondered about the healing properties of moonlight. We know the health value of moderate sun bathing. How about exposing a wound to the moonlight? I will do that next when I am sick and the moon is high and full. Being a Cancer the moon is very important to me and we know that it can cause strange behavior. Dr. Mok my husband, is a shrink, and we like to discuss these things that affect the mind. Although he comes from a scientific view point while I am a flake. Science can just bog things down at times.
He is also Chinese which can be fun too. That means a Moon Festival dinner! We had a lovely meal after a shopping trip to Chinatown. Fresh roast pork, spicy nuts, garlic veggies, weird sliced and marinated pigs ear for him and Chinese pastry for me! Mmmmmm....

O.K. people, just one more Mertyl shot! I am so happy that my sweaters are popular at CUT & PASTE down San Fransisco way. Big ups to Jenny there who has been so kind and helpful!
I have just put the finishing touches on a new batch of woolie beauties. I will post some on my mod to modern site as well as a in the C&P store. Take a look in the next few days.
I think that our American friends are a little bit braver with color than we conservative Canadians are.
I try not to get too loud with color when I design and I always ask myself if I would wear what I produce. That is always a good guideline to keep in mind. The woman I hope to dress has a sense of fun and joy about herself and loves unique pieces in her wardrobe. With my sweaters she can say hers is truly one of a kind!
Just like Mertyl, her sweater is one of a kind too! Sweet!

Here is another shot of Mertyl in a sweater. Yes, that is usually how she smiles . A little tongue is a good thing I always say. She was going to a doggy birthday party that day and I bet she stole the show.
Just to add... is anyone else loving Borat right now? I hella am. He went to the White House yesterday and was not allowed in! Who can imagine why not? I am exited to see his movie, the projector broke at the Toronto film festival and he had to talk to the crowd to keep them happy while Mike Moore tried to fix the projector. Trailer Park Boys will be up on screen too. Too sexy Julian!
