mod to modern

This is Mertyl my muse in all things canine. Is she not a beauty? She was my fit model for my experimental line of modernist doggy sweaters. Her mommy Joy, lent her to me and was kind enough to let me take some shots at their house. Joy collects vintage furnishings and works in the film industry so there were many lovely items for Mertyl to pose with. Heaven! I always want to recycle further so these sweaters were the next step. Of course I had already subjected my cat to my line of Kitty fashion woolens. My animal companion sweaters are for sale and are really lovely if I do say so myself. Please do remember however that Mertyl is cannot be had for any price. Cat love, dog love, love, love.

This is my good buddy Jamie, who insisted I cut her head off. She was kind enough to model some new sweaters for me, but was pissed off that I asked her after a meal. She is shaped all girly and curvy, exactly the body type I cut for. Although slim ladies look great in my sweaters too as I add a lot of curves to my patterns. This sweater is called Tulips And Snowflakes. And sweater weather is upon us! My summer weight fashions are sitting in a well worn pile just waiting to be packed away till next spring. Fashion Week is gearing up and soon the Christmas craft markets will be blooming in artist galleries and community centers. But first Halloween! My favorite. I love to watch the paranormal shows on T.V. Most Haunted, A Haunting, Psychic Mediums, Creepy Canada, Ghostly Encounters. Chilly fun. I have also had a ghostly visitor myself as a child, so that shock has been delivered. Hey kids, if unexplained things start happening in a rental home, MOVE for cripes sakes. All this talk about the unseen world makes me want to snuggle into one of my sweaters. Mmmmm... soft an' cozy.

Hi there, the summer sun seems to be fading fast and there is always one question that comes up at this time of year. When to pack up the patio furniture? If I do pack up, the summer sun will return with a blast, and I will have to drag it all out again. If I leave it out, the cold will tumble in.
This here is a picture of my studio, this is where I do all of the work, that is the cutting and detail stuff. I am happy there and I had to put up a wall clock just to remind myself to keep on track, not to wander too far away from things.
I am still trying to drag myself through the bible, ye olde fashion phone book, that is, the September issue of Vogue. Kinda boring, kinda same ol' and it weighs a ton, but it has become a sort of a fall tradition. And signals a transition. I do want a pair of thigh high, grey suede boots (see the back of page 260). I want mine darker with a round toe and wedge heel though. I am already finished with the skinny jean too.If you are at all curvy forget it... I love a really wide leg, high waisted, tweed pant (pages 456 & 695). Katherine Hepburn wore them very well indeed. She always looked amazing when she golfed. With her two-tone spectator golf shoes and a tiny sweater and these double wide legged cuffed trousers, a soft wave of hair curving around those cheekbones. So sporty!
I cannot get current episodes of Project Runway, aaarrrgh. Or I am too clueless to read the new fall schedule. Or we just don't get the recent episode this far north? Where am I, Greenland? I mean, I live in Canada, but come on now. Hey, what exactly happens in Greenland anyways? They are not too far from us. How come we never hear anything from them? I know it is an icy, frozen land but so is Canada. They never drop by. We never hear from them. Are they Danish? Cool! Come on over you Eskimo lookin' , Danish speaking snowy neighbors. Lets send an icebreaker over and bring them back and hang out! Hey, maybey they are siphoning off Canada's episodes of Project R. Actually, I just watch that show hoping for a hissy scissor fight. Please, someone, slap the blond offa Heidi. Is she endlessly pregnant to keep everyone away when she "aufs" them? Kind of a sympathy ploy? I want a hidden camera in the model room, not to watch them but to hear the real deep down dirty-dirt.
Oh yeah, here is another picture of my favorite beastie boy, Boy-Boy without sweater. Mrrowrr.
