Boy, it sure is hard to photograph yourself! Unfortunately my camera does not have a remote. Set 10 shots, click and run! Anyhow, here is another sweater in the" fun" category.
A happy fellow is pulling up his catch from a satin hole in the ice, a yellow wooly fish! And to complete the theme, two abalone shell buttons grace the neck band. His smiling face is pink from the winter sun and the shrug collar is a pretty pink too. I loved the image, kinda happy and innocent.
Please head over to print&pattern, which I truly love,
http://www.printpattern.blogspot.com/ and has included a sweater of mine on their recent site listing.
Why is it that women seem to be mesmerized by detail? I wonder if this is a female/ wiring thing. Is it just me? I can stand and stare at paint chips for hours, well, until I get gently lead away. I am the same way with shoes as well, such a cliche I know. But why?
Yet the males that I know, the ungay ones anyway, are bored to tears. It is the wiring in the womb that fascinates me... a prenatal switch goes on and another detail freak is born. Actually, I like, no need, to sit in my closet and visit my shoes. Mind you I was a weird only child, who is now as a weird only child adult, has created hundreds of imaginary worlds in my lifetime. Sitting in a closet, talking with cats and categorizing footwear is quite tame considering the other crazy shit I have created and could be acting out. It is best to keep it all in check though, unless I go to CatShoe Queendom and not come back. Ahhh, Cat Shoe Queendom becons now, calling me, whispering, my clothes are billowing on a soft gentle closet breeze, the clouds drifting across the ceiling, cats all purring patiently, Michelle come play...

Yes, I made sweaters for my kitty, Boy-Boy. Is that too weird? Not in my world. Cat love, how could it be wrong?Besides, I had some wool scraps that needed further recycling... Boy-Boy was very patient but we all know how high strung models can be. After buying him a diet Tab and a deck of smokes he settled down into the shoot.
He was a shelter cat, and just wanted a second chance at love, like all of us. His hobbys are dragging around his mousie toy, yelling at the top of his lungs at 3:00 am, and pushing the litter out of his cat box in a mini sandstorm. He weighs a ton, has tiny girl-cat feet and is a lapful of love.
So give a shelter beast a chance, be they a doggus or kitteh or bunneh or birdie, they have so much to give. Next.. should I make a recycled sweater for a ferret?

Hey, thanks to all who have been visiting from Design Spotter. I welcome any feedback about my designs, pricing, policies or whatever. Or just send a hello. David Cassidy said Shit! last night at our summer fair! Holy pottymouth mom! There were toddlers and kindly grannies all around who just came to dig on the Keith Partridge vibe and well, this aint Reno! Just do what you came to do Dave, we didnt come to watch a car crash in slow motion. He still looks good and it is clear he didnt cheap out on the plastic surgeon. So looks-wise and voice-wise things were ok... I am trying to say something complimentary here...but like with with most handsome men you just do not want them to talk. Sorry Dave but you are an idiot! I think I love you baby but please, please, do not talk! Every time you open your mouth you kill my dreams...

Yay, I got a yard! I am now a land owner! I have been an air owner, that is a condo owner, but this is real , I can pee on it if I want, land. Today I have stayed inside again sending out notices to design sites that mine, exists. Daily Candy, Bust, Design Spotter, Indie Shopper, Inhabitat and Design*Sponge are a few of my favorites and it would be an honor to get listed with any of them. Any others to add out there , you kids in the know?
Man, there is some killer talent out there. Beyond extremely talented. I can just fall into Print+Pattern http://www.printpatternblogspot.com/ and not come up for air for like, 3 hours. I look at my watch and it is like whaaahappen? Where amI? Isthatthetime? How about some http://www.stitchymcyarnpants.com ? Stitchy Mcyarnpants rules man! Cute Overload too http://cuteoverload.com , for head-melting cuteness.
Well, the summer is almost over and I would say that the highlight was an intimate evening I spent with Jack White, my future babydaddy. http://www.whitestripes.com/ Yes, we were surrounded by a lot of other people too and he was on stage with the Raconteurs, but those are merely details. Before he started the White Stripes he used to upholster furniture in Detroit. He used to write poetry inside the fabric so when the piece was refinished, how many number of years down the road, the next upholsterer would find it. He still hides behind that greasy black hair and can that boy play. Listed at # 17 on the Rolling Stone best guitar player of all time list, (who decides these things anyways?) when he plays Ball and Biscuit, well, he can have whatever he wants. They did an amazing cover version of Bang Bang too.
Next up, the P.N.E. kind of a end of summer fair we have here in Vancouver. Jeff Healy, a great blues guitarist will do a free gig and I will be there. And an ancient but ultra-favorite teen idol David Cassidy will show up too. In his day he was Keith Partridge, the most beautiful androgynous, slim hipped pretty boy of 70's tv with the bestest hair ever! We shared many meaningful moments together David and I, as I had many a Tiger Beat poster of him on my wall. I think he lives in Vegas now. Don't worry David, I'm coming to see you! Let's just breathe the same air together for a while, quietly, softly...

Another summer day spent indoors putting the finishing touches on the website and trying to learn how to upload and size pictures. Har!My good buddy Lia took some time out to come over and try to make it all clear to yours truly... I have decided to just pay her and save myself the heartbreak.
Speaking of heartbreak, I just read that a country singer guy named Gantry paid some other fellow about four grand to shoot a tame bear named Cubby. Hey nimrod, if the beast is in a pen and has a name it is tame. Not fair game, we learned this as kids. What a limp **** coward! A pox on you and your ilk! @#$%^&*!!! I smite you! And this goes out to Cubby bear... shot with a bow and arrow in his pen after his daddy sold him out. I hope you are in a better place Cubby, you di-int deserve it. Play nice, kids.

At last, my website, my baby, she is up and running! My web designers, the ever patient, clever Penny and the wonderful, cheerful Lia have made it so. Am... very...happy... I hope that anyone reading this will drop me a line or two. How about a whatsup from yall?
I am busy working on new sweater designs and I have so many ideas whipping around the old noggin. I did some great shots at my studio with my neighbor Nicole , the filly with the ponytail on the photos and friends page. She was a great sport what with the posing and twisting and smiling and sitting and balancing on one foot on a stack of phone books. And she is as pretty as she is good natured. Thanks Nicole.
I hope to focus on the graphic side of my designs, that is, more interpretations of pattern and colour. If anything, I hope people will respond to the colour (Canadian spelling peeps!) that I use. I always want to avoid too much contrast, otherwise things can feel kinda clowny and somewhat unwearable. I want most for the woman to be seen first. She just happens to be wearing one of my sweaters, not that the sweater is wearing her.
On another note, I guess one of my pet peeves of indie clothing construction is any clothing finished with just a serged edge. You know if you turn your shirt inside out you will see serged edges. That is where a serging machine cuts and sews seams together and makes the them strong and durable. Some folks use this serged edge to finish their garment instead of folding the ends over and hemming the edge which is more work. Although it is a way to introduce colour along that edge by using contrasting thread, to my eye it is unfinished. Just sayin'
I saw Peaches the other evening and she now has a band behind her. She is such a big personality but it must have been tough to do gigs alone armed with only her loops for company. She is an amazing show woman and can control a room the size of the Commodore here in Vancouver. A proud Canadian too although I bet she can control any room any where she goes. But what with the volume? It can be too freakin' loud even with earplug foamies jammed in. My greatest fear is that my tinnitus will get worse if my drums are exposed to any more trauma. Just a reminder to anyone going anywhere loud, esp. gigs, car races, etc... always bring and wear your ear plugs! You do not wanna have a loud constant (yesneverending!) noise in your head like me! I always wnt to go to gigs though, but hey mister mixer guy, bring it down to below damage levels. Keep it loud enough to kick our asses but jeez if it just sounds like feedback at a mind control facility you gotta put a lid on that thing! Any whoo, enough for now ... yer pal, Michelle, signing off.
