Hello. We are playing peek a boo with the sun again today. Tease!!! I had just been reading about the upcoming B.C. fashion week designer line-up featured this year. It is very exiting to have our own forum for design but why, oh why, are the same people shown over again? One designer was won a design competition on t.v. for gods sake! They have had their time in the spotlight already, lets move on! And we all know that there is so much talent that deserves recognition in Vancouver but are ignored. There are people here who are slugging it out in the dirty design trenches and coming up with wonderful, wearable, well made clothing. They do not have deep pockets for agency representation. They are spending time at their sewing machines instead of shmoozing at gallery openings. And if you want to be sent to sleep just get over to The Bay Dept. store and hit the Canadian By Design collection. Nap time everyone! If fashion week is to have any integrity then there can be no place for favoritism. So come on buyers, reps. and whoeverelse finds talent move out of your comfort zones and hit the streets. Go to the small boutiques and chech out who may be selling online! And those who are chosen to show at B.C. design week should only be allowed to show once to make room for those who follow behind. And to those who are taking up space and showing for the 2nd time we have seen your work already, at The Bay. Just sayin'...
